Termites
Inspection
A visual inspection of all internal and external areas of the home and property
This is a visual inspection of all internal and external areas of the home and property to locate any active termites or any evidence of past or present termite activity or damage. Apart from our inspector’s trained eye and tapping equipment, we use our Thermal imaging equipment and moisture meter to enable us to detect any areas that may be of concern that are concealed by wall linings, floors, and ceiling plaster etc, without the need for physical penetration and damage. We also have the Termatrac unit available to assist us in the detection of termites in suspect areas.
Our inspection involves a thorough investigation of all accessible timbers and potential entry points, such as the subfloor or perimeter of concrete slab edges. We inspect accessible roof void timbers, landscaping timbers, fencing, trees and stumps around the house. Walls are also checked for moisture as this can often attract termites.
We ask that, if possible, you be available for the inspection. It is good for you to be aware of what we are looking for and where we are looking for it. A thorough inspection will show you how to identify any potential risk.
Additional Information
The inspection is to discover if subterranean termites are present or have been present on your property or in any of your buildings. All other pests other than termites are not inspected for at this service, however if our Inspector observes any other pest issues, they will advise you of this on the day.
No warranty can be offered on a Termite Inspection. Once the inspection is completed there is no guarantee that termites may enter the property after the day of our inspection. It is our Duty of Care to advise all property owners to have an annual Termite Inspection on their property. If termites have historically been found to be active on the property, we would suggest a 6 monthly Termite Inspection be completed, especially if there is no current Termite Management System in place to protect the building against future termite ingress.
What If Live Termites Are Found
Or Termite Damage?
Don’t panic and don’t disturb them!
If live termites are currently active or we have located previous termite activity or damage we will advise you straight away and explain the next steps we recommend you take. We will provide a proposal and quotation for eradication of the termites and recommend the best possible termite protection options for your property moving forward, depending on the construction of your home, the location and severity of activity and what will fit your financial means best.
What to expect after your inspection
Once the Termite Inspection is complete, our inspector will go through the report with you and advise you of any findings.
They will also recommend what actions you need to take to ensure termites are not attracted to your home and what the options are for on-going termite management.
