Ants are common insects that exist externally in the soil around homes and there can be literally millions of them at any one time outside in the garden or grass areas. There are many species of ants living outside and when the weather is either hot, cold or raining, a few common species like to move their nests into people’s homes to either stay cool, warm up or head for dry land when their nests are flooded. If there is the opportunity of food, even better.

Ants form colonies and millions of ants can exist in one colony. They are often found nesting in wall cavities, subfloors and roof voids and when they are out foraging for food, they will show themselves in the home, often in kitchens but they can show up anywhere.

Our Nesting Ant Treatment starts with a thorough inspection of your property to identify where the problem ants may be originating from and investigating where any potential ant nests are.

It is important for our technician to identify the ant species present so we can effectively deal with the problem. Different species of ant have different diets, some prefer sugar and others prefer protein or oils, so it’s important to give them the correct bait to eradicate the nests. Treatment involves using a number of products that are targeted at eradicating the particular species present. Sometimes there may be more than one species. All species of ants are included in this treatment.

Our treatments are safe and environmentally friendly so there is no need to leave your home while we are treating nesting ants.

Additional Information

Depending on the size of your home and property and the extent of the infestation present, the Nesting Ant Treatment usually takes between 1-2 hours to complete. We will require access to all internal and external areas of your home including the subfloor, roof void, garage and garden areas.

Please move any stored items away from the areas of the home where the ants are currently active without disturbing the ants present. Its important that the ants are still there when we arrive so we can track them. Please leave any evidence such as ant frass, in the areas you found it. This is often a clue as to where the nests may be located.

The treatment may involve treating the external perimeter soil area around your home where it meets the house so it may be necessary for you to remove stored items against the external walls of the home away from the walls.

If it is raining at the time of your appointment, we will still be able to attend and complete the internal part of the ant treatment. We will need to arrange another appointment to complete the external area inspection and treatment. It is important that the products we apply externally dry after treatment to ensure the treatment remains effective for the warranty period.

This treatment is specifically for nesting ants, no other pests are included in this treatment.

Payment is required on the day of service – we accept cash, eftpos, visa and mastercard and cheque.

Once our technician has completed the service he will assess what warranty can be given depending on the areas he was able to gain access to, to treat. Usually a 3 month warranty is given.

What to expect after your service?

A nesting ant problem can sometimes take 1-2 weeks to solve completely. You may still see the odd ant showing itself after the treatment. The products we use have a delayed mortality, meaning we need to give the ants enough time to get back to the nests to transfer the bait to others before they die. If they die too soon, the bait does not reach any concealed nests and the problem will persist. It is possible that you may need another service in the warranty period if the ants persist after 2 weeks. This could indicate there are satellite ant nests present in concealed areas where the ants have not come into contact with the original products applied. Another service will be needed in this case. Please stay in touch with our office if this is the case.
