There are many different species of cockroaches encountered in Sydney. Some of the main species of cockroach that generally live outside but like living inside are American, Australian, Smokey Brown, Brown-banded and Oriental cockroaches. We see a great number of German cockroaches too but this type of cockroach doesn’t live outside, they are travellers and like to live in kitchens, bathrooms and laundries.

Cockroaches carry and spread disease-producing organisms to humans. They spread salmonella , gastroenteritis, staphylococcus and streptococcus. They thrive in warm, humid conditions and are frequently found in homes and particularly in unhygienic conditions where food and moisture are present.

To treat cockroaches successfully, we need to carry out a thorough pesticide spray treatment to all accessible external building areas of the property including the internal areas of a home such as around the skirting board areas. We also treat the roof void, weep holes and subfloor area with a pesticide powder to kill cockroaches. General Cockroaches are covered under our General Pest Treatment (link to page), if you have a German Cockroach Issue, you will; require a German Cockroach Treatment.

Additional Information

Cockroaches are treated as part of the General Pest Service, which depending on the size of the home and property and the number of technicians attending, can take between 1-2 hours to complete. We will need clear access to all internal floor skirting board areas (within reason) to be able to apply a light pesticide spray along these areas to provide a treated zone for any cockroaches to cross over, groom themselves and die. We will also require access to your roof void, kitchen area (no need to remove cupboard contents), subfloor area and external weep holes if applicable.

Please move any items away from the skirting boards at least 10cm to allow our technician access to treat these areas effectively. Areas that cannot be treated will be a limitation on the warranty.

Please unlock any external gates or padlocks on subfloor doors.

Please secure pets inside or in the garage, as advised by our staff on booking. In the case of external fish ponds and bird aviaries, we request you cover these with a tarpaulin prior to our visit.

Pet droppings externally must be picked up and disposed of please as our spray hose will be moving along the ground in your yard.

Please remove any washing from external clotheslines and bring inside any external items that you do not wish to have sprayed.

Please close all external windows and doors.

Please store away all food items in the refrigerator or cupboards in the kitchen.

We will treat all accessible internal and external areas of the home and property which includes  – the internal skirting board areas or all rooms, kitchen cupboards, ceiling cornices, roof void, subfloor, storage areas, garage, subfloor, weep holes, perimeter of the building, window frames, downpipes, undereave areas, guttering, outside garden furniture, cubby houses, sheds, washing line, gardens, retaining walls, fencing, letterboxes and bins.

If it is raining or looks like it will rain at the time of your treatment or very soon after, we will contact you to see if we can complete all the internal areas of your home. We can then reschedule another appointment to return and complete the external areas.. In some cases we may need to reschedule the appointment if the rain is torrential.  It is important that the products we use dry after treatment to ensure the treatment remains effective for the warranted period.

German cockroaches are not covered in the General Pest Treatment.

Payment is required on the day of service – we accept cash, eftpos, visa and mastercard and cheque.

Our technician will determine the applicable warranty based on the areas he can access to apply the treatment to. Generally the warranty is 6 months with limitations on inaccessible areas.

What to expect after your service?

It is often normal to see cockroaches appearing after treatment for a short period after your service. This is because the pesticide is designed to flush pests out of concealed areas before it takes effect. The cockroach will cross over treated areas and ingest the residual pesticide through the grooming process and will die shortly after. If you have any concerns after your service and during the warranty period, please contact our office and we will ask the technician that completed your service to contact you with advice.
