Rodents are rats and mice. They are small furry mammals that are scavengers and eat just about everything.

They spread bacteria, germs, and disease through their urine and their droppings that they leave behind. Their constant gnawing of all things to keep their ever-growing teeth in check, cause extensive amounts of damage to homes, wiring, walls, and floors, in fact just about everything they encounter in the search for food and shelter.

Their burrowing can undermine the structure of your building and even retaining walls. The most common rodents we see are roof rats, norway rats, and house mice.

Our rodent service includes a complete inspection of the property to locate any evidence of rodent activity. Once our technician has assessed the level of rodent pressure at the property and located possible entry points, they will make a recommendation on what is required to eradicate the problem.

Usually, this involves the addition of rodent baits secured in your roof void and lockable tamper-proof rodent stations installed around the perimeter or subfloor of your home. It is impossible to completely proof a home against rodent entry as there are so many areas rodents can gain access to as they only require about the width of your finger to fit through a gap. Our inspector will also make recommendations on what you need to do at your property to ensure your home is not attractive to rodents. This could involve sealing up gaps, proofing areas with fine wire or steel wool, and ensuring grass is not left long and rubbish and stored items are removed from subfloors and yards.

Additional Information

A thorough inspection and treatment can take up to 1 hour to complete depending on the evidence of rodent activity that we can observe. We will be inspecting for droppings, gnawing of wires and walls, urine stains, rub marks from their oily coats along runways, footprints and burrows.  We will require access to all areas of your home and property internally and externally.

No preparation is generally required. If rodents have caused damage to property or food items or left droppings, please leave the evidence there for us to inspect. We will inspect all areas of your home internally and externally for evidence of rodent activity. Rodent bait will safely be installed in the roof void or subfloor areas (if required) and lockable tamper proof rodent stations with bait will be installed in key locations around the home. Where possible minor rodent proofing material may be installed at possible entry points. Our inspector will make recommendations on what you need to do to deter rodents from your property.

Areas treated will depend on where rodent evidence is found or entry points located.

Wet weather will not affect us completing this service.

This service is for rats and mice only, no other pests are treated in this service.

Payment is required on the day of service – we accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa and MasterCard, and cheque.

Unfortunately, a warranty can not be offered for this service as it is impossible to assess how many rodents are visiting the property.

What to expect after your service?

On the day the service is completed, our Inspector carries out a thorough inspection of your property locating any evidence and possible entry points that give them an indication of where the issues are and what the possible rodent pressure may be (how many are around) at your property.

Based on the above information, our Inspector has estimated the correct number of rodent baits to be installed and has placed them in strategic and safe positions around our home and yard to deal with any rodents entering. These baits are usually secured in the roof void or subfloor or in lockable tamper proof rodent stations around the external perimeter of your yard.

Once rodent bait is installed, you may hear some or see activity on the baits over the next day or two. Things generally settle down after that and all being well, enough bait has been installed to deal with the issue and some bait will be left to deal with any more that come along. Once the activity has ceased, it is now time to fill or proof any gaps in walls, floors, etc as directed by our Inspector at the time of inspection. Also, any trees overhanging or near the building providing a bridge for rodents to the building should be trimmed away.

If you have received a rodent bait box key and feel comfortable doing so, you can check the baits installed in the boxes and any baits placed in roof voids and roof void and subfloors. If it is within 2 weeks after your initial rodent inspection and you require more baits (due to all the baits being consumed or noises continuing) we are happy to waive another call out fee and install any additional baits required at a small cost for the baits only. If it is more than 2 weeks, a call out fee will be charged along with any additional bait required. Please contact our office to arrange another appointment.

If you notice a very bad smell coming from a particular area, unfortunately on the odd occasion a rodent will die inside the building. If this is the case and you are unable to locate it and remove it, we are happy to provide this service to you for a call out fee. We also have Odour Bags to purchase if the rodent has died in an internal wall cavity and cannot be located or removed.
