Silverfish are a small, primitive wingless insect that are covered in fish-like scales. They are silver, as the name implies and can be up to 2cm long with two long antennae. They often infest all types of fabrics and foodstuffs and cause damage to books, documents, photographs, clothes, carpet and wallpaper. They hide in dark, humid, undisturbed places during the day and in cracks and crevices and you will find them in cupboards, boxes and wardrobes and can be often found in the roof void. Their faces and moulted skins can cause asthma with some people.

We will treat the areas where you have observed silverfish with a combination of safe insecticides to eradicate them. Silverfish are covered under our General Pest Treatment

Additional Information

Treatment for silverfish usually takes about 1 hour depending on the infestation. We will need clear access to the areas where you have seen them.

If you have photographs and documents in cardboard boxes, we do ask that you unpack these items, brush them off and store them in sealed plastic storage boxes before we arrive. Cardboard boxes should be removed and placed in the recycle bin. Pet food should also be stored in a container with a lid.

Treatment will involve a spray treatment to all skirting board areas, wardrobes and cupboards and the roof void area. Any affected garments should be laundered in hot water and put in the dryer on hot. The house should be thoroughly vacuumed and the contents placed in the external garbage bin.

Wet weather will not affect this service.

This service is only for silverfish, no other pests are included.

Payment is required on the day of service – we accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa and MasterCard, and cheque.

We usually give a six month warranty on a silverfish treatment if we can access all the affected areas. Stored items such as boxes of paper in roof voids if not removed may limit the treatment and will affect the warranty period.

What to expect after your service?

You may see the odd silverfish around but they will die once they cross the treated areas and ingest the insecticide.
